On Dec. 13, Jeff Mazzaro from Florida began his run with a hole-in-one on the course’s No. 3 hole with a 6-iron from 145 yards against the wind.  That was amazing. What happened afterwards was even more remarkable especially considering it was in a club championship match.

Mazzaro, 59, competed in a match against Mike O’Neil on Sunday, Jan. 23. They started on the back nine, and by the time they got to the par-3 14th, he was already three up.

He hit a 5-rescue 170 yds into the wind with the pin up front . Everyone saw the ball land on the front of the green and drop perfectly into the hole. Hole No. 15 was halved, and O’Neil took No. 16 to drop to 3 down. O’Neil hit his approach to within a couple of feet on the par 3 17th.

At that point he probably thought he could go two down however that was not to be the case. Mazzaro then hit a 6-iron from 140 yards which landed about five yards short of the cup and bounced right in.

Mazzaro had used the same ball for both aces.  On the next hole, he nearly lost it however when he hit his approach shot into the water.
Luckily he was able to fish it out because it hit the bank and just rolled in.

On the fourth hole of the front nine, Mazzaro won the match. He was able to put his lucky  ball in his bag and went on to win his second men’s club championship in a row and his third overall.

Mazzaro’s streak was not over yet however. He played Royal Palm Golf Club on the following Tuesday after being invited by some pals. Incredibly Mazzaro was able to make another hole-in-one on the par-3 16th hole.

Using an 8-iron his shot fell just short of the pin bouncing a couple of times before ending up right in the cup.

Mazzaro now has seven total aces despite just working for Dooney and Bourke as a sales representative. He does own the golf course at Stillmeadow Country Club in Cincinnati however.

He worked there as a caddie as a youth, and after the club went bankrupt in 2009, he bought it a few years later.

Mazzaro works at the club with his wife and two sons, one of whom is the course superintendent. They’ve turned it into a family operation doing everything from  mowing the courses to cleaning toilets.

Mazzaro doesn’t get to play much at his course because it’s so busy so when October arrives, he heads down to Naples. From 2003 to 2015, he played at Cypress Woods before discovering TPC Treviso Bay.

There are a lot of good players at Treviso who motivated him. He is in a group that’s quite competitive so it has  encouraged him to improve.

Peter Meurer, 64, is one of the club’s best players. He finished tied for 22nd in the State Senior Amateur Tournament last year. Rob Myhill, 74, was in another match with Mazzaro in his club championship group when Mazzaro made the two aces, and he has since served as a mentor.

Mazzaro has clearly enjoyed this period, but there is one thing he would like to achieve at some time. Mazzaro thinks it would be amazing to get the Treviso Slam (a hole-in-one on each of the club’s par-3s). Quite a goal but you wouldn’t put it past him.

In Palm Beach County, Florida, Jack Nicklaus and one of the PGA’s hottest new stars are partnering up to establish a luxury golf community.

Jack Nicklaus, 82, and Justin Thomas, a 28-year-old PGA Tour player have begun construction at Panther National in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.  The two are planning a high-end estate neighbourhood encircled by a championship golf course that will open in late 2023. It’s the first new golf course in nearly two decades in the area.

Nicklaus has said that he believes it’s fantastic to see golf expand in Florida.

Panther National will be spread over 400 acres, with a 2,400-acre conservation area surrounding it. The 18-hole golf course will be surrounded by 218 estates with the  size of the properties ranging from 4,700 square feet to 10,000 square feet. Panther National is not a cheap place to live; d epending on size and amenities, the properties will range in price from $3.5 million to $12 million.  Panther National has 125 reservations so far.

It will be Thomas’ first time designing a golf course. Thomas stated that all he wants to do is learn as much as he can from his partner. He has said that golf course architecture fascinates him.  He will be learning from one of the best in the game and is prepared to take all his advice.

They’ve worked with Tesla Energy to install power wall backup systems throughout the estates. It is just a part of their aim to build an eco-friendly community. It will enable owners to include environmentally friendly items such as solar panels. Each estate has a two- or three-car garage with electric charging stations. All include a golf cart storage, an outdoor kitchen, and a private pool.

A state-of-the-art golf ball tracing technology, access to expert pros for teaching, golf simulators, a putting area, and world-class training facilities are among the additional features on the property. Panther National members will also have access to the club’s custom fitting facilities, as well as clubs from all of the main equipment manufacturers.

They see it as their responsibility to attempt to make this golf course a little different; to be a little more special, something that’s as intriguing and as attractive as possible.

Nicklaus and Thomas’ partnership is their first time designing a course together. Through his company Nicklaus Designs, Nicklaus has participated in the creation of over 420 golf courses across the world.

The two players have also discussed the looming threat of a Saudi golf league, which has recently returned in the news. The new golf league is attempting to entice some of the greatest names on the PGA Tour by offering guaranteed money and larger rewards.

Nicklaus doesnt think that something like this suits the game of golf.  According to him, golf in the United States and the PGA Tour are already in excellent shape. A Saudi league is just a complete abnormal situation that he doesn’t believe is good for the game.

He emphasised the PGA Tour’s significant charitable component, stating that they raise more money for charity than any other sports league.

Thomas, who confirmed his commitment to the PGA Tour this week isn’t attracted to the Saudi league. He has said that if he got just $15 winning the Masters he’d still be content. Obvioulsy the check is great but not the reason that he plays major championships.

Despite its efforts, the Florida Casino Gaming Expansion Initiative will not be on the ballot because it did not receive enough signatures. It was 77,374 signatures short of the 891 586 signatures required. The now defunct proposal was intended to create more casinos in Florida. It was to achieve this by enabling firms with necessary permits to offer casino gaming. The only stipulation being as long as they were 130 miles distant from any of the seven Seminole tribal casinos.

Fortunately, the failed effort to expand casinos in Florida had little impact for gamblers in the state. Florida now has 77 casinos distributed across 31 locations.

The Sunshine State normally distinguishes between regular casinos and online gambling.  While the laws governing land-based gambling are clear, the rules governing online betting are not.

Legislators in the state have been working hard in recent years to establish a legal framework for betting applications and online sports betting. This procedure however ran into issues due to the filing of various lawsuits.

Meanwhile, Florida gambling legislation governing online gaming sites is still a long way off. Because of this annoyance, many Floridians have turned to offshore gaming sites as an alternative.

Gambling in Florida

Gambling in Florida has always been a contentious issue. Despite the fact that online gambling is illegal in Florida, this is not due to a lack of effort. In reality, the Florida legislature has been attempting for years to legalise sports betting and online casinos. The effort will continue in 2022. Want know more about real money online casinos? Check out this website! They review the best online casino platform in North America.

Florida is the United States’ tourism centre. There’s no doubt that many visitors from all over the world would engage in online gambling if they had the opportunity. The Seminole Tribe of Florida, which maintains a monopoly on all casino card games, is perhaps the biggest stumbling block for online gambling.

If online gambling becomes legal, a new tribal agreement must be formed to ensure that both the tribe and the state benefit.

Florida sports betting

In May 20, 2021 the Florida House of Representatives signed a gaming compact with the Seminole Tribe. Since then sports betting has been permitted in the state. On November 1st, the first sports betting mobile app launched; however, the Seminole Tribe had to take down Hard Rock’s sportsbook app one month later after their appeal was denied.

Both DraftKings and FanDuel backed the most recent sports betting initiative. It fell short of the requisite number of signatures needed for inclusion on the November 2022 ballot however. That said, mobile sports betting will not be available in Florida until 2023 at the earliest.

Alternatives to Sports Betting

Given the conditions, citizens of Florida are understandably ready to place their sporting wagers. While it is recommended that you wait for mobile sports betting apps to arrive in Florida, you may always place your bets on offshore casino sites as an alternative.

Online casinos and sports betting have thrived in Florida as a result of the accessibility of offshore websites. If you choose this option, you must be extremely cautious about the sites you gamble on. There are many scamming and unlicensed casino sites.

Cybersecurity should be a major priority for you.  When opening an account with an offshore casino, the first thing you should do is check the site is registered and licensed. Take some time to read reviews and do some research. Also, make sure to read the terms and conditions thoroughly.

The quantity of deposit and withdrawal options, as well as attractive and fair bonuses, are the most important features to search for in an offshore casino site.

Tiger Woods has announced the construction of two 18-hole putting courses at the PopStroke Sarasota entertainment complex in Florida.

Woods and Greg Bartoli, an entrepreneur and former investment banker, co-own PopStroke Entertainment Group. They describe it as a golf and relaxed dining concept. TGR Design, under the guidance of Woods, has already constructed courses for the group in Fort Meyers, Florida, and Port St. Lucie, Florida.
Woods has developed golf courses since 2006, but PopStroke is his first venture into putting courses. He returned to compete at the Masters this year after suffering catastrophic leg injuries in a vehicle accident in February 2021.

During the peak of his power, Woods’ putting was practically flawless. He missed only three of his 1,540 putts from three feet and in on the PGA Tour between 2002 and 2005. As they continue their expansion, they are happy to offer PopStroke to the Sarasota community. They want to bring friends and family together to create lifelong moments while playing golf.

The PopStroke putting courses were built completely from synthetic turf. They will seem like traditional golf courses, complete with undulations, fairways, bunkers, and rough.

Even the most seasoned putters will face a challenge with the Tiger Red Course’s aggressive contouring and difficult hole locations. The Tiger Black Course, meanwhile, has softer curves to offer a perfect course for families and anyone new to golf.
These are two 18-hole putting courses that everybody, regardless of age or skill level, can appreciate. They are both excited to introduce a new generation of players to PopStroke Sarasota’s unique putting experiences.
There will be an outdoor eating area alongside the golf course with a full menu. It will include craft beer, wine, creative cocktails, and ice cream.
Sarasota’s course is the first of seven PopStroke locations opening in the next 18 months.

Florida is investing more money on environment resiliency initiatives than it has in the past with a focus on golf courses. The Resilient Florida Grant Program has granted more than $400 million to.communities. It hopes to help them cope with the effects of floods and storm surge. More changes are on the way following this year’s legislative session.

According to the Center for Climate and Energy Solutions, most states are unprepared.

They essentially lack action plans to deal with climate change. Florida, on the other hand, is making progress.

Florida lawmakers enacted a bill to establish a resiliency agency under the governor’s supervision. It’s in charge of prioritising projects related to resilience. The measure also accomplishes the following objectives; The Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) is responsible for assessing flood vulnerability and sea-level rise statistics across the state.

The Department of Transportation has been entrusted with establishing a roadway resilience action plan based on the current situation. According to projections, certain sections of Florida could witness a 1-11 foot rise in sea level over the next 100 years.

A new law will establishe a resilience office that will report to the governor and prioritise initiatives.

With the help of the University of Florida’s turfgrass science programme, lawmakers are ensuring that the 1,300 golf courses in Florida are certified for Best Management Practices, ensuring that they are ready for you to tee off while also being kinder to the environment. Courses will be certified by the DEP. The Bobby Jones Golf Club in Sarasota has undergone a $20 million makeover.

Not only does water completely surround the course but it also floods frequently. It’s now undergoing a redesign in order to avoid this.
Crews can help to keep runoff containing nutrients out of the rivers and limit the usage of fertilisers, which release greenhouse gases, if they properly maintain the greens on all of the state’s fairways.
The golf course accreditation is valid for four years, and to hold onto to it, the crew will need to continue their education, which will entail extra time learning about fertiliser best practises.

The Emerald Coast of Florida features some of the best beaches and seafood restaurants in the state.

it’s a strip of beauty that stretches between Pensacola and Panama City on the Gulf of Mexico in northwest Florida, between Pensacola and Panama City.

It’s one of Florida’s best-kept secrets; a world away from the blazing nightlife of Miami and the frantic theme parks of Orlando. Quiet expanses of powder white beaches, secret state parks with a variety of ecosystems, and turquoise waters teeming with dolphins and the region’s famous seafood can all be found here.

The best places to eat in the area are in Fort Walton Beach, Okaloosa Island, and Destin. The Emerald Coast should be at the top of your list if you like wide beaches and an abundance of nature.

That’s before we even talk about the beautiful weather all year, southern charm, and amazing Gulf-to-table dining.

1) AJ’s Oyster Shanty

Destin is also known as the luckiest fishing community in the world. Jetty fishing, deep sea fishing, charter fishing, and, of course, eating the delectable catches are all popular activities.

There are a lot of fantastic restaurants to try all of this seafood in Florida, and AJ’s is one of them. This is the place to get some cocktails to go with your crab claws, sit outside at a table, and eat your feast while listening to a live band.

The fried pickles, boiled shrimp, and smoked tuna dip are all must-tries. Served with melted butter, new potatoes, and corn the sweet and soft Snow Crab legs are also a must. In the crab-cracking game, patience is a virtue; endure with it and the reward will be worth it. And don’t forget about the bib!

2) Asiago Skillet, Destin & Fort Walton Beach.

Florida and substantial southern breakfasts go hand in hand, and both Asiago Skillet restaurants are excellent places to start your day. These places are family-owned and run, and they clearly have a passion for what they do, as evidenced by their long list of devoted customers.

The menu features a variety of skillet prepared foods that sound delicious. The Steak Skillet includes potatoes, sirloin, onions, peppers, mushrooms, asiago cheese, and two eggs.

Expect fluffy buttermilk pancakes the size of frisbees, hearty omelettes and American classics. There are lots of classic southern breakfast selections including biscuits with gravy, ham, sausage, bacon, and eggs.

The service is excellent, and the ambience is warm and inviting. There’s also a Bloody Mary bar where you can make your own.

3) Jackacuda’s, Destin

If you want to enjoy the local fish on the Emerald Coast Jackacuda’s in Destin is one of the greatest places to do so.

You’ll want to head straight for their colourful and brilliant specialty sushi rolls, which are located right in the centre of Harborwalk Village. The Backdown, with shrimp tempura, spicy lobster, jalapeño cream cheese, baked spicy crab, avocado and eel sauce is their signature dish, and it’s stunning.

Salmon, snow crab, tuna, yellowtail, and albacore are among the other seafood options on their sushi menu. They also serve a variety of seafood main courses, including blackened snapper, mahi mahi, and shrimp and grits from the south. Take a seat outside in the sun or shade, with a view of the boardwalk, and order a locally brewed beer to accompany your meal.

4) Fort Walton Beach’s Rockin’ Tacos

As destinations in Florida go you can bet this is one of the restaurants that is most packed during spring break. The vista over the powder white beach from this location on Okaloosa Island is worth a visit in and of itself.

This is the spot to go for Mexican-inspired cuisine and tequila cocktails while relaxing on the sun-drenched veranda.

The flavours at this Fort Walton Beach restaurant are fresh and excellent, from burritos and fajitas to burgers and quesadillas. Definitely don’t miss their avocado fries with chipotle aioli and coriander dip to start.

Then, for the best seafood selections, travel to their specialties section.

Try charred or grilled fish tacos topped with a spicy pineapple and mango habanero salsa. Tacos with shrimp, roasted red peppers, and green onions in a sweet and spicy salsa. Baja fish tacos with beer battered white fish, pico de gallo, and guacamole are also available.

The venue is still bustling in the evenings, with a late-night taco buffet and a house DJ. It’s a terrific spot to go from day to night.

5) The Gulf, Okaloosa Island’s bayside

When you first walk in, this two-story, largely al fresco waterfront drinking and dining establishment is a bit of a show-stopper. The room is made up of recycled and salvaged cargo containers and features a large and flexible floor plan.

There’s enough outdoor furniture strewn across the grass and sand to make you never want to leave. People can even arrive by boat at the dock.
Their seasonal menu features locally sourced ingredients and the venue includes table tennis on the grass, two bars, and a gift shop. Don’t be surprised if you see undecided groups hanging by the full-size menu unable to choose what to have.

6) The Local Market, Destin

The Local Market in Destin (from the same proprietors as Harbor Docks above) specializes in fresh and excellent breakfasts and lunches.  If you arrive before 11 a.m., you can expect avocado toast and corned beef hash with eggs.

You’ll have a hard time deciding which gourmet sandwich to have for lunch as they all look delicious. Also don’t miss their homemade ice cream and juice bar, which are created and bottled in-house.

7) Destin’s Boshamps Seafood & Oyster House

BoShamps, with its magnificent views of Destin Harbor, is the perfect spot to unwind and enjoy a delicious meal. They serve fresh and local catches of the day, and you can enjoy breathtaking sunsets, and warm southern hospitality.

Chef Andi Bell, recognised a Rising Star of American Cuisine by the James Beard Foundation, works in the kitchen. Local baby spinach and artichoke hearts coated in melted cheese like a fondue are among the dishes on his menu. There’s also lobster mac ‘n cheese, duck confit cassoulet from the Gulf Coast, and plenty of local seafood.

The post-Native American history of Florida is far more recent than that of most eastern and southern states. St. Augustine may be the oldest continuously occupied city in the United States but following the historic creation by the first Europeans in 1565, progress was extraordinarily slow. Despite its size, with a land area of about 66,000 square miles, the state had very few inhabitants.

In reality, it wasn’t until after the United States Civil War ended in 1865 that events in the history of Florida began to unfold, and early residents began to come. Many of them came from states just north of Florida, such as Georgia, Alabama and South Carolina.

Despite the fact that Florida is a young state, there is a lot of intriguing history to learn and heritage sites to see.

One of the first things that may strike you is how young the state was in comparison to the rest of the country. Except for Pensacola and St. Augustine, most cities and settlements in Florida became established in the years leading up to and following the Civil War. Before that, it was a desolate wasteland that many people considered uninhabitable. The Old South is responsible for much of Florida’s heritage, particularly in north Florida.

The first known human occupants of Florida date back to around 12,000 years ago. Thousands of years before the Seminoles arrived, various ancient Native American cultures thrived in Florida.  These tribes are no longer present, but remembered in Florida’s history. Before the Seminoles arrived in the early 1800s, there were at least 15 of these tribes in Florida.

Most historians divide Florida’s history into at least 11 periods:

  • Earlier human settlers, such as ancient Native American tribes who lived here long before the Seminoles. The Ais, Calusa, Tequesta, and Timicua are only a few of them. Only the Seminoles remain in Florida today.
  • Exploration and colonisation by Europeans (1513-1565).
In 1513, Spanish adventurer Juan Ponce de Leon arrived in Florida, followed 25 years later by Hernando de Soto. During this time, Pensacola and St. Augustine were founded. Fort Caroline was built near the mouth of the St. Johns River near Jacksonville in 1565 by the French explorer Jean Ribault, but it was destroyed by the Timicua and Spanish explorers.
  • The First Period of Spanish (1565-1763).
For nearly 200 years, Spain enjoyed complete control of the Florida peninsula. During this time, the Spanish built a road connecting St. Augustine and Pensacola, as well as extending their route westward to California. In 1695, the Castillo of San Marcos in St. Augustine completed construction.
  • The British territory of Florida (1763-1784). After the Seven Years War (1756–63), also known as the French and Indian War in American history, the British acquired Florida in a land trade for Havana, Cuba in 1763.
  • The Second Spanish Empire (1784-1821). After losing the Revolutionary War, the British had to leave Florida. The Spaniards returned for a second attempt.
  • Territorial period (1821-1845). Spain returned Florida to the US. Florida became an American territory after Andrew Jackson became governor. Because it was halfway between Pensacola and St. Augustine, Tallahassee became the capital. During this time, two of the three Seminole Wars took place. Because of the forts built during these conflicts, many Florida cities have “Fort” as their initial name.
  • Independence from the United States (1845-1861). Although the Seminoles never surrendered, most of them eventually transferred to the west. No Floridian voted for Abe Lincoln in the 1860 presidential election. Florida’s culture and sentiments stayed firmly rooted in the South. Few people backed the Union.
  • Reconstruction and the Civil War (1861-1877). Florida was a member of the Confederate States of America and was penalised for it during Reconstruction from 1865 to 1877. Physically and fiscally, the state was destroyed. During this time, a large number of families from war-torn Georgia, Alabama, South Carolina, and other states moved to north Florida.
  • Development in Florida (1878-1926). Steamers, railroads, dredges, swamp drainage, new towns, cities, developments, and freeways were all part of this era. In 1912, Henry Flagler completed his Florida East Coast Railway, which ran down the Atlantic coast to Key West in the Florida Keys. Henry Plant’s railroads extended from Central Florida to West Florida and Tampa Bay. Until the Great Freezes of 1894 and 1895, the citrus fruit business thrived. Florida had developed into a prominent cattle-raising state. In the early 1900s, Florida was doing well, and the 1920s saw a significant land boom in the state, with numerous new cities springing up.
  • Florida’s Great Depression (1926-1940). The hurricane of 1926 in Miami obliterated what the poor economy had failed to do. The Roaring Twenties saw a massive land boom which ultimately ended with a crash.
  • The Second World War and the Postwar Boom (1940-2009). Following the war, army bases passed over to Florida cities and counties. The space programme began in the late 1940s at Cape Canaveral. Walt Disney World first opened its doors in 1971. During Castro’s communist conquest of Cuba in the early 1960s, many Cubans fled to Miami. Following it, in 1980, came the infamous Marial Boatlift. Until around 2008, the economy grew at a steady pace. 2009 was the first year in which the population did not grow. The surge is still going on, with about 1,000 individuals flocking to the state every day.

Its friendly inhabitants, citrus fruits, pleasant weather, and amusement parks is what makes Florida such an attractive destination. It attracts visitors from all over the world with attractions such as The Walt Disney World Resort and Kennedy Space Center. It has a lot more to offer though. For a long time, the gambling industry here has been booming. There is something for everyone in Florida with 82 casinos, over 800 live gaming tables, and 27,000 slot machines. Here are the top five luxury casinos to visit once you’ve seen all of the other magnificent attractions.

Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino

This Tampa casino hotel has a total area of 245,000 square feet. It is one of the largest casinos in Florida and run by the Seminole Tribe. It has a great mix of electronic slot machines and classic casino table games. Electronic roulette, poker, and blackjack jack games are all available.

Because it combines the old and the new, this casino provides an unparalleled gambling offering. It appeals to a wide range of casino enthusiasts. There are 5,000 slot machines, 46 poker tables, and 110 table games available.

Also fantastic are the food and entertainment options. If you’re looking for a fine dining experience, try Cipresso, Council Oak Steak & Seafood or The Rez Grill. There is, however, something for everyone with a total of 5 eateries and 3 bars.

The Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino is only 14.9 miles from Tampa International Airport, making it ideal for seeing the surrounding area without having to go far. With pet-friendly policies, nightly concerts, and the opportunity to download personalised playlists upon arrival, this resort truly has something for everyone and should be on any gambler’s must-see list.

The Casino Dania Beach

This casino is approximately a ten-minute drive from downtown Fort Lauderdale. It is well-known for its Jai Alai, but it also offers other games. There are a variety of tournaments in which thousands of players compete.

If you prefer classic casino gambling, there are 24 poker tables and 900 slot machines to choose from. The card room is a beautiful glass-enclosed facility that is a joy to play in. Away from the tables and machines, you can make money betting on horses, greyhounds, and harness racing. You are spoiled for choice at this casino.

Aside from gambling, the casino at Stage 954 provides excellent entertainment. You can see world-class performances by comedians and artists. There are also a number of dining options.
